I am in the middle of replacing my shocks with Edelbrock IAS shocks. I have a 98 4.0 and the trouble is the front driver side shock removal. Any tricks to removing the post nut with all that master cylinder crap in the way? The other three were rather simple but the master cylinder is a pain.

For your performance needs:
I have a 10 in extension but all the tubing is in the way. May be I will try putting the socket on the nut and then snaking the extension through all the mess. I will try that tomorrow.
