Shifter Recall

I just got a letter from my local Jeep dealership that said my 99 WJ (4.0, I6) was being recalled for a shifter problem. Anyone else have this happen or know anything about it?

Not sure if it's the same thing but sounds like it could be:

When I took my 98 ZJ to the dealer to get some features programmed, they told me there was a recall thing that they just did for me while it was in there. I think it was like the thing that makes it so you have to step on the brake to shift out of park. Something like that.

I do not like this recall. I got one of those letters years ago. I threw it in the trash. I like to be able to start my engine when I am standing outside the Jeep, reaching in with the window down. This is usually when I am working on the engine.

Then when I had my tranny rebuilt, at the dealer, they said they did me a favor and performed that TSB. I said, “THANKS A LOT for nothing”. Then six months down the road, whatever they did broke and now it’s back to normal. No stepping on the brake to start my engine
