My wife's 94 ZJ has ocassionally started displaying this message in the message center. "Service 4x4 Switch".

Can anyone tell me what this means? The manual does'nt list it.

Thanks for your help!

Took it to the dealer and they said, "oh,we've had one or two others in with that message, don't worry about it"

Well I do. Called Chrysler head office and they said to take it to the dealer.

SOOOO, now what?! Hasn't anyone else had this? It only does it every few days or so.

WHAT THE HELL IS A 4X4 SWITCH??!!

Could be the Tcase shifter, or the bulb is blown. I would take it to a different dealer than the one you took it to if possible. They sound retarted..

That is the switch that illuminates the "4lo" (or appropriate) light on your dash. The switch is located on top of the TC. It may be dirty or have a shorted wire. It won't affect the function of your Jeep, just the one light is on, and the other stays off. Annoying....

Most people have found it to be a bad/dirty/corroded connection coming out of the transfer case. Pull it apart and spray it down with electrical contact cleaner and put it back together.

I'll have a look at it today - it finally stopped raining around here, so now I've got something to do.

Cheers!!
