selec trac 4lo problems

i have a 01 wj. selec trac t-case. i put in 4lo today and it made this ridiculous loud bang noise. idk wat the hel it was... maybe the chain?? i hoenstly dont even know if those have the chains in it or not.

but then worst was like i couldnt go in reverse... using the pedal even it stuggled. this was when i was in 2. and it was like the torque hadnt been released. anybody have any suggestions.. help or anything

It does have a chain. Does it go forward? I wouldn't force it though, if it is the chain then it's probably jambed in the TC and forcing it could crack the TC case.

Mine did the same thing about a thousand miles before it completely blew up. Cracking the case into four pieces. Is it leaking at all? If so the chain streches when they get low on oil and then BAD things happen. Luckily mine broke while I was driving across country. I'm glad it didn't break in my driveway, where it would have been easy to fix.
