"Security" Won't Disengage

I pulled the terminals on the battery to do some work on the ZJ, I had a hunch the batt was going bad, I took it to Autozone and as I assumed it was dying. I bought a new one, elsewhere, with more CCA than the dying one . IT sat for a week before I came back to it as I was gone. Now the "Security" system on it will not stop flashing my lights and I cannot start the car for more than a few seconds before it just dies. It's the factory security light on the dash with the high beams flashing. I can hear what sounds like the turn signal 'click' but it is from near the glove box.

What gives? How can I reset it so I can finish working on the thing and actually drive it?

Open driver's door. Lock doors with the power door locks. Close all doors. Unlock driver's door with the key from outside. Bob's your uncle you're done.

That's funny, but I guess not as weird as Ford's way of programming their "clickers.". lol I'll do it as soon as it stops raining.

Thanks!

Now to tackle the exhaust and the t-case. oy. I want to drive this ***** but I have zero time to work on it.

I was gone for a week, I was attempting to pull the t-case and bring it with me to work on, but I could get that bugger lose!

Actually, the only part of that you really need to do is unlocking the door with the key. Should also work with the remote fob, if you have it. That works for me.

Mine must be odd. You actually have to lock it all up and engage the alarm before you can turn it off by unlocking it. But then again I'm finding my Jeep is strange (like its owner) in so many ways...

Yeah, it needs power to the alarm system to sense the switch on the lock being activated to tell the alarm to shut off.

The above procedure needs to be done when the lights are flashing.

BTW, the clicking under the dash is a relay to flash the lights. It's controlled by the alarm system.

Maybe they changed the programming in the module. Mine's a '93.

I know whenever I disconnect the battery, I just get out the remote as soon as I'm ready to re-connect it, and as soon as I get the cable on, I point the remote and hit the unlock button and it works.

I don't have a fob for it, hhhmm can you reprogram fobs for it? I have an unused one from my sisters old Liberty. I don't even know if it has the remote system.

At any rate, thanks, I got it turned off and everything is peachy on that front. lol

The remote from the Liberty will be an RF (Radio Frequency) type. The ones for our ZJ's are IR (Infra-red). Totally different system.

So the short answer? No, it won't.
