Seat belt minder

Dear all,

I have just purchased a 2004 grand Cherokee, and I have found that the seat belt minder is (kind of) deactivated. I have no warning light and no sound if the belt is not attached, the car see the belt attached permanently.

Does anyone know if there is a procedure to turn it on ?

Thanks a lot for your kind answers.

Both sides? If passenger in seat and belt not attached, no warning? There is no switch to deactivate the system. Either faulty, or previous owner didn't wear the seatbelt and jimmed the system.

Well, looks like there is a detection only on the driver side (no wires coming out the female belt lock on the passenger side).

I have seen procedure for Ford vehicules, in order to activate/deactivate the belt minder, it's why I am wondering if there is one on the Jeep.

Also, If I disconnect the wire coming from the female belt lock on the driver side, I get the airbag warning light which does stay on. So, looks like the switch here is ok...
