?s about lifting my GC

well i just posted about lifting my grand cherokee. i decided to go with RE. i have heard lots of good things about them. so i call them up and say that i have a 93 GC with the 6cyl and quadra-trac(all time 4wd). he informs me that i can only go with the 3.5" lift du to the fact that it is all time 4wd. he said i cant do a cv driveshaft/ or a cv and sye. so he said the most i could go was 3.5 due to drivline vibrations that occur. so i was wondering if i could do a 1.5"-2" tc drop to help level everything out. or does this put to much stress on other components dropping them that much. let me know what you think.

That is a typical RE respone. I'm at 4.5-5" lift and no vibes with the Quadra trac. I can list off about 20 others that have the same thing. As for the driveshaft you already have a CV driveshaft. However I think he is refering to what SWB people refer to as a CV but we call it a double Cardan which you already have as well. Whart was his reasoning behind his respons?
What size of lift are you looking at anyway?

so basically you have have inches and do not have any vibes. do i not need to change my drivshaft since it is already a cv style. i was looking at the RE 4.5" with 1" spacers as well. clearing 32/33s. depending on what tire fits.

I did a front to back swap and netted about 4.5" -5" and no I have not had any vibes. However I just want to say that every ZJ is different and vibes and death wobble can happen but it can also be fixed. Oh and SWB means Short Wheel Base like a TJ, YJ, CJ. The term LWB is a long wheel base like and XJ ZJ, WJ, KJ. Anyway to answer your question on the shaft I believe that at 5.5" of lift you will be border line on a new shaft. What happens is that if you replace you control arms with the RE kit then the shaft is not long enough to reach properly. Basically out of spec. The CV style driveshaft that you have is adjustable even though they never say it. How you adjust it is by loosening the lock nut and moving the shaft. However what you need to adjust it to I do not even have a clue. I just know that in my case with 4.5" lift and stock control arms my shaft actually has to be shortened. With the lift I have now moved my front axle closer to the Tcase. Here is a write up from a friend of mine who has the same set up as me. Maybe it can help you as well.

What problems would that be? And is this the same Beerman that is a guide for GSE? If so I know why you have problems.

I was behind you at GSE. LOL Just kidding. I don't think it was the driveshaft that was vibrating but the trailer you were towing.
