Rusty's lift kit for WJ

i've been searching the forums for the answer but i can't find it. I want to get Rusty's lift kit that comes with 4 coils and 4 shocks for 379. but i read from another thread that the shocks suck....so should i instead of buying the package, get the 4 coils and 4 bilstein 5150 shocks for 615? do you think it's worth it? and is that a good setup? thanks guys!

I was looking at this lift too and called and those shocks are made by a pretty good company(monroe?) for rustys. I asked about getting diff shocks from them(more expensive) and he said the shocks that came with it were pretty good. I dont have any experience but if he could have sold me more expensive shocks and didnt they must be alright and it is rustys.

the biggest problem with the shocks that come with his kit for the WJ, is that the rear shocks don't fit. The eyes are too narrow for the mounts...Their solution? either mash the chassis mounts smaller so they fit, or shim out the shocks' eyes out with washers to fit the chassis mounts. Neither "solution" will make the absolutely annoying clunking sound go away that happens when you go over ANY bump/pebble in the road. Also, my front shocks from them wore out within 6 months (and my truck has never been offroad, so that should tell you something).

Rusty's will sell the springs only, it's $260 + shipping. I got his 2.5" springs and I have Pro Comp MX6 shocks to go w/ them. A much better combo IMO.

I installed the Bilsteins this past fall. Tons better than the old DT 3000s.

I got my shocks from 4x4parts.com. They had a special in January going for buy 3 get 1 free, paid $290 for all 4. They make shocks for lifts, just look at the part description and remember that part # if you are ordering over the phone.

Bilstein's site doesn't show any application for the WJ. Of course there's no way of telling when the last time they updated the site was.

I think since you'd need the shock loop conversion on the WJ to run some of the better brands, they don't list any as being specifically for the WJ. They probably have a model that would work though.
