Running a cable from the stereo to the glovebox
I've got a 98 ZJ and i'm attempting to run the alpine ipod cable to the glove box from the head unit and i'm stumped. Does anyone have pictures or tips on how to do this and am I gonna have to take off the dash? Any help is appreciated.

I am pretty sure you can take out the inside of the glove compartment to axcess fuses or something. I wanna say its the power antenna fuse or relay but im not sure. If you can get that out, it shouldnt be to hard to run the wire through the dash to the back of the head unit.

Fuses are not stored behind the glove box on a 98. They stopped that in 95. Only thing you can really do is fish the wire just right. Not a lot of access into there.

I have my iPod adapter inside the glove box. Here is how I did it.
I ran the two wires that power the unit up through the space where the glove box light is. I then snaked them underneath and alongside the heater vent to the back of the stereo where I then connected them into the wiring harness. The information cable was a bit different because it is so big. I had to run it out behind the glove box, behind the VIC/ 4wd indicator, up between the stereo and the gauges, and into the back of the stereo. It really was not that hard to do, just took a while to figure out. Sorry, didn't take any pics. Your in Anchorage, eh? I'm from Fairbanks.

You might think about snapping some pics when you're doing it so we can document it for future reference. Just a thought

Hmm ... Too bad you didn't post this question a little earlier. I had my glove box out but cannot remember how wiring would go because I wasn't in there for that

i figured it out after like 30 minutes of unscrewing crap and looking around. When you pull out the stereo there is a space to the left where you can drop the cable down (trust me... there is only one space and you'll know if need be) and it will be down in the area behind the heater/ac controls. So after you take those out you can run it into the area where the light for the glove box is. I had to drill out a little more to get it to fit through the hole. But all in all it was fairly simple once i figured out what to do.
