RTV on rear main seal
Exactly how much and exactly what spots on the rear main bearing cap need the RTV to make a perfect seal? Got the seals in and ready to put the cap back on but am a bit conflicted as to the little bit of RTV that needs to go on..

In the Chevy race car motors I have dealt with you would need to rotate the seal slightly where the mating surfaces of the two seals meet so it does not line up with where the main cap mates they need to be offset a little. Put a dab of rtv on each end of the seal and it should be good.

None on the metal of the cap itself? I was thinking it should have a fine film or small line on the metal to metal or cap face to block face.....
