Rotor warranty question, and maybe the end of WJ ownership.
So I had the jeep in AGAIN for service today and there are a few problems, but my rotors are warped again. This is the third time in less than 2 years this has happened. When I got the ffirst replacement set, the service guy said if I paid the BS $100 "part cost" then the rotors would get replaced if they went out before the 12 mo/12,000 mile warranty was up. Then today the sservice guy says that warranty only applies to 12 months after the FIRST set was installed. But the exact words of the person before - "as long as they crap out in less than a year after they were installed, the part warranty will have you covered."
Anyone know what's right and how I can verify this? Thanks in advance. chris I posted awhile back about how frustrating things have been with my WJ, here are some of the other service highlights: Bought my WJ new in the fall of 2004 on closeout as the WK's were just hitting the showroom floors. In that time - almost 2 years and 28,000 miles miles - it has been the worst vehicle I have ever owned in terms of durability. It just can't stay out of the shop. new front rotors - warped failed o2 sensor a TSB that caused the check engine light to come on - don't remember what was done off the top of my head weather stripping around both front doors completely falling apart the tranny fluid and rear diff fluid were both shot at 16k mi another failed o2 sensor another check engine light repair - again forgot what was done another set of rotors - warped again another failed o2 sensor drivers door panel cracked console latch busted yet another new set of rotors - what its in for today... http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f6.../jeepsnow2.jpg

You might consider putting on some aftermarket rotors rather than oem. Brembo makes some on tirerack for I believe $50 a piece.

If I have to pay, I'm definitely going aftermarket. The parts guy claims they just started making a new rotor to alleviate the warp problem. Don't know what they're going to do about the warranty issue yet. $50 a pop is a bargain, that's probably the way I'm going to go. Thanks.

Brembo's all the way! People have had good luck with Napa/Checker etc... rotors as well though. Really any one piece rotor will work instead of the two piece that comes stock. Go aftermarket and never deal with your rotors warping again

It is only a vehicle, if it were mine it would be gone; not worth the agro. It is unfortunate that some vehicles seemed to be cursed. I love my Jeep, and it has been very dependable, about the only complaint has been the dealership.

before you do anything with the rotors, check out this thread, and the website a few posts down.
