Rotor question.

Hey all, I have a question about the rotor warping problem I have been hearing so much about. So is it the front rotors that are prone to warp, or do the rear ones have tendencies to warp also?
Does anybody know the ratio of braking power front to rear? Is it 75% front 25% rear?

fronts warp bad because DCX put -=-=-=-=ty calipers on there and they get some bad runout. Mine have about .0060 of and inch runout. I just bought some drilled slotted zinced rotors from stop chek on ebay for $160 shipped and they are awesome.

So basicly I am going to have to either upgrade the rotors or calipers? Is there any available caliper kits? Or will upgrading the rotors fix the problem?

I just bought Brembo rotors from tirerack for $32 a piece and they seem to be working pretty good. I replaced the ones I put on 3 years ago that I got from autozone, So from what I hear 3 years isn't to bad for those rotors, I thought I'd try the Brembo's because I've heard good things about them.

I really respect people that consider their brakes. I mean its much more important than trying like hell to squeeze 5hp out of some Mod. Good luck in your quest.

The rotors on the 88 - 98 gm pickups are prone to warping as well. I learned that it is really important to torque the lug nuts when you reinstall the wheel. If they are turqued to different values, supposedly it can distort the rotor when it gets hot.

The reason I asked is because I was experiancing the brake pulsing problem.
Well I went after it today. I rotated my tires, and while I was under there I checked my pads and rotors. The lugs must have been tightened by a damn gorilla, I litteraly had to stand on the lug wrench for a few of them to break them loose. Pads are about 1/2", and the rotors looked good. No gouges, nice even wear, and glassy ofcourse.
So I popped off the rotors, was a pain in the ***, due to the rust on the axles, but they came off. I emery clothed/removed all the rust down the axles, and the rotors. Slipped them back on, and then torqued the lugs to spec.
I hopped in it, and took it for a test drive. Guess what, the problem was solved. I no longer have the pulsating problem. I drove it around most of the day today, under some pretty hard braking as well. The problem has yet to show its face again.
I am so happy that I didnt have to buy new/ upgraded rotors, and pads. Although I will be purchasing the brembo rotors very soon, for the front and the back.
I just want to thank all of you guys for all the help and information. I searched for many days about this problem, and now I dont have to worry about it anymore, well for the time being anyways...lol
This site is great, has many informed people who like to help. I am a moderator for another forum (Nissanforums), and was weary to come to another board, to ask for help seeing that some of them now a days are filled with immature, kids blabbing hearsay, and sh*t they actually know anything about, but what they have heard. I just want to say thanks again, and I think I have found a second home...lmao

Your absolutely correct, This is about the only Forum I visit regularly, I'm on one other JEEP board also, but I very seldom post there, for fear of flamage. I've learned a ton of valuable information here and try to do my best in sharing what tips/tricks I've figured out over the years. Glad we'll be seeing more of you around

Jeeps use the same style of slip-on rotor as GM products. Fronts and rears both are prone to warpage

I was thinking about getting some Brembo cross/drilled rotors when my next brake job is needed. I have heard that some cross/drilled rotors crack but I don't think these will.
