roof rack rattle

The vertical supports for the roof rack are loose and rattling. Have tightened the screws but no relief. Any ideas??

Don't know what year your jeep is but if it is still under warranty, there is a technical service bulliten out for this problem. If under warranty, take it to a dealer. If not, you might just have to use bungie cords.

If you have a ZJ here.

You mean the cross rails, or the rails that attach to the roof? If it's the cross rails slide the rails off the rack and look on the bottom of the brackets that slide along the roof there is a small metal piece on it, that came real loose and I got alot of noise from the roof rack, found a new one at a junkyard slipped it on and the noise was gone.

I believe that only the 96-98's have these metal clips on the rails though, found this out when I was searching for new ones at a junkyard.

If it's a WJ, I have no clue sorry.

J
