Replacement power antenna mast?

Is the mast of the power antenna on a '93 GC Limited replaceable? If so, who carries them? I can hear the motor running when I turn the radio on and off, but it's stuck about half way up.

Got mine from Jeep too - the gears on the orginal one got stripped, so it wouldn't go fully up or down. Sounds like you have the same problem.

(Insert Viagra joke here)

Happened about five years ago. Not real expensive a fix, at least at the time. A lot cheaper to just replace it than try and fix it.

Yeah, I'll have to try the local Jeep dealer. Crutchfield would be easy too... I live about 2 miles from their company headquarters (off of the same road actually) and I'm 5 miles from one of their two outlet stores. I was hoping I could just replace the mast part... I did that on a Volvo I owned once when the nylon track inside broke.

This guy bent over backwards for me when I had two 94 ZJ masts that didn't work any longer but didn't have, from the factory, 94 masts...both had the 95s and then we found out one had a 95 but without the sleeve.

I had purchased, from him, 2 94 masts, and he worked with me over 2 weeks to make sure I got taken care of. Got replacements and didn't cost me a dime.

Easy to change out. $14.95 plus shipping and 5 minutes of your time to install.

My fix was to find a fixed antenna at the junkyard and hammer it into the power antenna part. Mine was stuck completely down and I think broken off.

Schucks / Autozone wanted 65 for a power antenna. Didn't even want to check out the dealer.

The mast on Ebay that OH-ZJ-IO posted looks like the kind of thing I used on my Volvo. The was easy since you could access the antenna from the trunk. I wonder if anyone makes one like that for a 93. Thanks.

Hey!

I PMd you.

That guy has masts for just about everything. The ZJ masts run 93-94 and then 95-up as far as style/type is comcerned. He definitely has one for your application. I just posted that link because it was the first I saw for him.

Get on eBay and do the 'ask seller a question' thing and ask him.

He'll take care of you. And like I said...it's $14.95 plus like $5 shipping and you've got your replacement.

Did you not get the PM?

Al

It turns out that he did have a couple of 93-94 power antenna masts for sale. I bought one yesterday for $14.95 + $5 shipping. Thanks

Pep boys sells them and it's only $14.95 as well. I have been putting mine off for awhile, but it still goes all the way up, just not all the way down.

They quit using them in 96 I think. They are a bigger pain than they are worth. I'd rather have a solid mast.
