Has anyone done the recall for the intake manifold debris shield? Just wondering if i should get that done and how long it took. Thanks

I had the debries shield recall done on my XJ 4.0. It took about 20 min. or less. I would get it done if for no other reason than to make DCX spend some money.

And in turn pass it on to the consumer (ie. raise prices)...

True and true but they probably made all the parts already and accounted for the labor and passed along the expense a few years back.

What years does this recall affect? I just bought a 2000 GC and I'm wondering if I should have the Jeep dealership do this recall before I pick it up on Monday. Thanks.

If this is the same thing that was done on a friends 2001 its not worth doing at all..

They put a piece of reflectix type insulation on top of the intake manifold. Said it helps prevent fires from leaves/brush getting in there..

It didnt even cover half of the manifold.. just the inside/lowest part of it..

Or is this something else?

joe.ls, you are right, that is what they are talking about. It is not really worthless. Because of it's design, that part of the manifold easily collects debris, so it can be a real fire hazard. Especially for those that do a lot of off road driving, kicking up leaves and such. Fires have started in the this area because of it, which is why they issued the recall.
