Rearlift gate window

Good Afternoon,

So I've been lugging around my kayak a lot through the rear lift gate window. Is there a way to turn off the light when that window is open so I can just leave it in my jeep with out the light being on always?

Cheers,

I believe if you just press the rear light, it should turn it off. I take my girlfriend to the drive in quite a bit in the summer, and we always lay in the back with the hatch open. It's worked for me with the Jeep in auxiliary.

the light itself is a button, pushing it toggles it on and off.

Ok I'll check that out.

But all the lights turn on. As if a door is open.

you may need to play around with the dimmer switch on the dash as well. I had to make sure it was just one click below the top to get the lights to work the way I wanted.

Yeah, that's how the rear light toggle will work. You can push it to turn on all the lights, or turn them all off. It won't only turn on the rear light, just all on or all off.

It should still work. I've never done it with just the glass open but it works for me with any of the doors or the hatch open

On mine, you push the lense and hear a click, now the light is always on doors open or close doesn't matter, push again and light goes out but only if the doors are closed. If the door is open the lights are on no matter what.
But now you got me puzzled i'll have to go and double check that, i may be wrong.

You're right. I was wrong. Could've sworn it worked with the doors.
Just went and checked on my '98. Two clicks on the rear light will turn them all off with the lift gate or glass open but if you open any door, the lights come back on
