Rear Tow Hook WJ

Hey I was wondering if there is a spot where I can put a rear tow hook on my 02 GC. I do not have a hitch and would just like to throw one on there...any suggestions? Do I need a bracket or can I just bolt one onto the frame?

Thats really ghetto...spend $100 on a hitch, much more useful and million times stronger/safer. You can even find them off WJ's in the junkyard for even less, but you'll need to trim the bumper (and pick up a bezel ~$75) or replace it...car-part.com can help you find both.

Otherwise http://www.etrailer.com/ is where I got mine, came out to $120 with shipping.

Yeah I know it is cheap but I just wanted something incase I get stuck of have to pull somebody out. I do not need a trailor hitch. I might end up just getting front ones and being done with it. Thanks for all of your input and help though...GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

I put the factory hook on the frame and used it many times to give cars a tow. Simple and easy, just put the strap around the hook and go.

Here's some info:

You would need to do a lot of reinforcing of the frame rail if you mounted that hook to the unibody. The unibody is very thin and that hook would likely rip off. Get the bracket for the hook for the rear or a trailer hitch.

I recently saw a rear tow hook on ebay go for ~ $15 complete with the bracket and hardware so I'd say thats you're best bet. You might just get lucky and find one at the JY, but you'll be much more likely to find a hitch...

You can get a tow hitch at u-haul for just over $100 that comes out below the bumper so you don't need to buy the bezel. I got one & it took 1/2 hour to mount.

Here is a MOPAR rear hook (w/ bracket) that I came across a while back. Doesn't say whether or not it ever sold, might want to PM him if you're interested...
