Rear Main seal

can anyone tell me how difficult it is to replace the rear main seal on my 99 4.0 grand cherokee, or point me in the right direction for a write up?
Thanks,
Roger

Its a two piece seal. You need to remove the oil pan, starter, trasmission cover. There is then two bolts, the bottom of the seal drops out with when you take the two bolts off. You then need to push the top seal out and through. Put the new seal in the same why you took the old one out.

there is also a main cap girdle that bolts across the bottom of all of the main caps that you have to remove. be sure to torque everything back to spec and be careful not to damage the rear bearing when you have the cap off.

Change the oil filter to go with your fresh oil.

Also, be sure to use black RTV on all 4 corners of the oil pan and also a few dabs on each side of the rear main.
