Rear hatch window swap.

I have a 96 GC. It has the stationary glass in the rear hatch. Has anyone ever replaced the stationary glass with the optional lift/hinged glass?

I have a 95 ZJ. Originally came with the stationary glass. I now have the optional lift glass. In order to acomplish this, the complete lift gate had to be replaced. Normally I would never have done this but in 1997 my rear hatch was damaged in a minor rear end collision. So I asked the body shop to order the optional gate.

Does it just swap out? If so, I can probally get one from a junkyard for next to nothing with so many ZJ's in my area...

Yea, the whole rear hatch just swaps out. Two hinges, two struts and a few wires/hoses.

Be aware that it'll take two or three people due to size and weight. Also take your time lining up the hatch so the body gaps are even and looks good.
