Rear door locks are frozan solid and cant get door open
I just bought a 2000 jeep grand cherokee from my friend and the truck was sitting for about 6 months and the rear drivers and passenger door locks are frozen solid. I took the panels off and the door handle to see it i could see anything and i dont know what to do. I pulled the inside unlock rod so hard that the plastic holder broke off pretty much. How do i get the door to unlock i stumped

I don't know if your Jeep has them or not, but many vehicles (one of my Toyotas, for instance), have child-proof lock out knobs on the rear doors. On the Avalon they are at the rear bottom of the rear doors. This would only apply to the inside handles. FWIW

Yes I have a switch on the bottom of my door that is a child protection on/off, that may be the problem.

if that's the case you can still open it from the outside so I doubt it.

if it's buzzing it might be a motor or solenoid, i dunno. but yes there are child proof locks on the wj's.. was the jeep ever in a wreck? why'd it sit for 6 months?

That's what i am trying to figure out doors are shut, interior or exterior handles dont work since its stuck in the locked position. I have the door handle off and interior door panel to see it and idk what to do from there, i can see all the rods and what they go to on the lock and actuator but still cant get the door open.

Well it would be alot easier if they were iced frozen lol. I suggest trying to get the door panel off from the inside... then you can reach in and hopefully pull on the linkage and open the door. After that, WD40, wire brush, white lithium grease... whatevr you can do to get it to move again
