rear diff question

I am looking to buy a ZJ grand cherokee, somewhere around 96-98. Anyway, most people that you buy from are not very informed and don't know the answer to my question "does the jeep have a limited slip type rear differential". Is there any way to tell without driving the car through some slick stuff whether it has the trac-loc diff? Is there some sort of marking on the diff cover or anywhere else? Please let me know
Thanks!

Hopefully you will get a better answer, but in the meantime, you can use the old method: jack up the rear axle, & rotate one tire by hand (brake off, in neutral). If the opposite tire rotates in the opposite direction, it's an open diff. If it rotates in the same direction, it's a limited slip.

Don't know how this applies to different types of limited slip or locking differentials. Like I said, hopefully you will get better replies!

i have heard that if you open the glove compartment, it will say something like "this vehicle is equipped with a Trac-Lock traction aid" or something like that.

IF YOU HAVE AN OPEN REAR END...WHY DOES THE VEHICLE JUMP AROUND LIKE A FEIND????
