rear bumper support brackets

So I'm trying to put on my new bumper but can't get the old bumpers support brackets off. It looks like a nut welded to the bracket (or perhaps its just incredibly rusted on). Please tell me I don't have to press the stud out or something, its just not budging even with air tools.

I think the nut is welded onto the bracket but not the frame. Then the stud comes up from underneeth and screws into the bracket through the "frame" rail. The on the other end of the stud the trailer hitch bolts up onto it (if you have one).

To remove the bracket use an easy-out

Puma,

I used a dremel tool with the cutting wheel just to cut the bolts off underneath and then pull the top part out through the rails.

finally got the stud out. had to weld a nut onto the threaded part and then wrench it out. what a PITA over a little nut/bolt. good news is I got the bumper on.
