ready for 8.8..what would/did you do?

So ive located a local yard with a couple 8.8s ripe for the picking. What would or did you guys do first after pulling yours? Rebuild? Bearings? Locker?

Artec truss. Love it. Weld your tubes, Id drive it after you got it in and see how she sounds. I plan on re gearing and doing new bearings in mine all at once but im still driving on all the stock innards that were in it from the yard. No sense in replacing stuff if it isnt worn out.

IIRC LSD differentials wont work for a lunchbox locker. Youll need an open carrier if you go that route. Someone may correct me on this though

The artec truss was a definite for me! Ive heard very good things about it. Im hoping to score one with either 3.73 or 4.10 ideally so i only have to regear the hp30 going up front..still unsure if im going up to 33's or staying on 31's

If you really wanna get the benefit from gearing id go deeper than 4.10's

Any particular reason? I drive roughly 80 miles round trip a day on the highway...i thought 4.10s with 31's would hold the rpms kinda high on the highway which is why that was my cutoff ratio as far as how high i wanted to gear.

Oh yea..im actually saving that picture for future reference lol...one day im content with 3.5 and 31's..the next i want 5.5 and 33's..once i get the axles in she'll be alot more "trail ready/reliable"..than ill probably go for adjustable arms if im staying at 3.5...i cant help but to drool over long arms though

Theyre awesome, I love mine. You can still get a lot of flex out of short arms too.

Wish i had the extra cash..these axles are going to consume a decent amount when all is said and done but for the added peace of mind its worth it lol

Obviously gear match to the rear..ive been looking at iro's axle truss for it as well. And not 100% on if im locking it or not. More than likely yes, maybe with a grizzly locker or something similar. how are the road mannors of aussies and similar lunch box lockers in the front? ultimately im building a ultra reliable train rig that gets me to awesome places to kayak and camp lol maybe a couple rausch creek runs.
