you dont need to move the axle back. like i said, when the suspension compresses, the tire moves in an arc like this: /

I understand that the axle moves back as it travels up. But I'm running fixed length rear lower arms designed for a maximum 31" tire. I'm running a 32" tire. So instead of having an inch between the front of the well and the tire I have a little less than 1/2". It's too close for comfort. I'll take a pic of how close it is, and get a pic of it up in the well. So you can see how much room I have left. I'd prefer to leave the fender well alone and trim the bumper instead. Or replace it.

I've seen how close it is. That's okay. If t
You push it back, the new tires will make contact.

Well I guess I'll get the tire further into the well. Is it ok to have the tire so close to the wheel well?

its fine for the tire to be close to the front of the wheel well. you do not want it farther back, if it was, it would contact when compressed. is there another way i can explain this so you get it?

I Understand the geometry of it. But eyeballing it, it looks like it could go back. I'm not used to having this little clearance. It seems like if I rolled back and the tire hit something and the bushings had any give. It would push the tire against the well. But I'm just guessing as I have no off road experience, I've always had modded street cars. So I'll take your word for it until I can flex it and see for myself. Thanks for the help.

On my 4.5" with 33's I could maybe fit one finger between the tire and the wheel well.

If I don't need to move the axle back, why are my tires hitting the front of the well under compression?

Do you have any bump stops?

I'll look under and see if I have bump stops. I still have room behind the tire, and a lot of room above the tire in the wheel well.

I'll take some more pics today, I should've taken a shot of the whole wheel well.

Is that as far as the tire is supposed to come up? I guess I was expecting more. That still doesn't address my rubbing. The tire comes down at least another inch before if stops rubbing. If I had adjustable arms couldn't I get another couple inches of up travel without rubbing? Either way I need taller bump stops.
