Wow... I specifically came on here today to ask him a question, because I started working on my ZJ again... Finally finished my Explorer... and I come back to this...

Ratmonkey's knowledge lives on. He answered just about every question you could ask about a ZJ. I use the custom google search with ratmonkey in the search terms. i miss ol rat.

In Tyler's memory

I am Tyler's mother, Kim. I want to thank everyone for their support and good wishes for Tyler in his eternal rest. It's amazing that he touched so many people in his drive for excellence and creativity.

From the time that your kids start driving, you hope you never get that call in the middle of the night, but it happens. The fear never rests.

The worst thing in life happened to Tyler, and it is my hope that everyone who knew him remembers the wonderful man that he was. I miss him so much. Thank you for your understanding.

Kim, Thanks for dropping in and welcome to the forum.

I think I can speak for a lot of people in saying that Tyler was and still is the most respected mechanic on this forum. His brand of advise was to the point and accurate and he didnt put up with a lot of crap. One of the funniest things i have seen on here was when he kept deleting a guys posts because he was acting disrespectful to him and other forum members. He literally followed him around and deleted everything he spewed out.

I was a Ratmonkey fan from then on.

We miss him too

Best regards

kim,
it's so nice to see you here on the forum. i'm sure you know tyler spent a lot of time here on the forum, too much sometimes i think. from time to time i catch myself going back and visiting his build thread just to read his words. it's just about the only way i have to feel his presence. i can't wait to get to work on his jeep, hopefully next spring, it would be nice if we could work something out as to where you could be involved in the project. i know the forum would love to see his worked finished. magnetman from magnet paints has already said that he will be on board to help where he can with the products he has available to him. your input and possibly a little photography of his zj's progress would mean worlds to me and many others here on the forum.

on another note...
the decals are nearing a completed state. there has been some interest from a professional graphic designer to help with a secondary design or whatever else he may be able to do.

I am new to those section of the forum, and it humbles me on such kind words said about a single individual that most don't even know. With this said, I love a link to his build thread!

After further searching I see he was in a car accident. This is so sad. He had so much knowledge and was eager to share.

Just wanted to add a video that I took myself. I had the pleasure of meeting Tyler on the first outing I went to with our group (Erie Jeep People) He's not much different in person then on the forum, great to have a conversation with and full of knowledge.

Jason, thank you for posting the video and photos of Tyler. I played the video over and over. It felt sad to hear his voice and see him, and I miss him terribly.
