radios that fit 96 grnd cher laredo

my factory radio is shot, all the buttons are dead on the front panel, and the cd player skips a lot. i was looking at buying a replacement 2nd hand from ebay. my model is p04858517, but i noticed there are a whole host of other part numbers for radios that look identical to mine (po4704383ah, p04704382ab, etc) are these all the same radio but have different part numbers because they were in a plymouth or a dodge rather than a jeep??? i'm confused and don't want to get the wrong one.

Not sure how much the radio's you are looking at but you'll get better sound and it'll most likely be cheaper to buy an aftermarket deck. Check out www.crutchfield.com and fill in the info on what Jeep you have and it'll display all the deck's that'll fit your Jeep, give you a fill in plate to make it fit properly, and a wiring harness to make the hookup easy.

You should look at an aftermarket model. They are MUCH better than stock, and still fairly reasonably priced (around $100 for a decent model). Unless you really want to keep everything in your Jeep stock, i would really recommend upgrading. Crutchfield and Ebay would be the places to look.

stock v aftermarket

i've bought from crutchfield many times. the problem is that nowadays it is getting very difficult to buy a cd/cassette/radio combo (i still love cassettes). so i'd prefer to keep it stock. i havethe infinity gold soundsystem and sounds pretty good to me.

I have the sony exploid. Really like it. I bought the cover for it and the wiring harness at an audio store. Very cheap and works like a champ.

Normally, the different part numbers indicate different units.
There are units that have AM/FM only, AM'FM/cassette, AM/FM/Cassette/CD, AM/FM/cassette/remote CD. The Infinity Gold AM/FM/cassette/CD you have has a three band equalizer, while the one with remote CD has a 5 band equalizer.
Pretty much all these units will fit in your Jeep (as long as they are for the ZJ and not the WJ), however, a key issue is the steering wheel control connector. The base units do not have a connector for that function.
Reputable sellers will specifically point out whether or not a radio has that function. If it isn't mentioned, assume it doesn't exist.
