Quick question about interior lighting

hi all
2002 JGC 4.7
my map lights in front are dimmer when the jeep is not running and are almost twice as bright when it is running.....
is this the norm?

Is it a old battery? your battery might be weak and when you start the jeep, instead of 12volts coming off the battery your getting 14volts off the alternator.

brand new red top battery...and it starts quicker than ever....I never noticed the interior light thing before
