Quick Horsepower Gains

What the title says...share with us some methods or secrets you have done to squeeze a little more power out of your ZJ. I know our frames can't handle that much of an increase but it would be nice to get some more distance on those kids with the civics...joke. Also I "Coulda had a V8" since I have the 242
I plan on throwing a straight pipe in there and maybe do a light overhaul..clean the throttle body, sludge removal, rebuild etc.

There are several, but none of them are cheap. All the cheap ones are completely ineffective.

One of the most effective (and coincidentally one of the most expensive) for your 4.0 is to stroke it.

without head work, stroker, or forced induction the 4.0 doesn't respond to mods very well. intake, exhaust, injectors, bored tb, and a header only really amount to under 20hp on these things.

'97 zj 5.2, some stuff, some other suff, and some things that even work sometimes.

e-fans and AC delete may free up a bit of HP but the 4.0 will never been a speed demon in a ZJ.

a fairly easy way to get more horsepower is to buy a 5.2 ZJ

Reliability is relative
