Quick 31" Tire Question!

hey guys, I'm shopping for new tires, DothanJeep inspired me to stuff a set of 31"s on my ZJ, until I can get a BB, but I need to know what the "tire code" is or w/e, like right now I have 245/75/R15's, what would that little code be for a set of 31's? And yes, I have the 15" rim. And what would the correct size be to advoid any rubbing at full lock? Thanks guys!

31x10.5x15. You're going to rub without any lift.

Thank you! I figured I might, but I'll trim a little if I have to. But a friend of mine needs tires for his grand, and my Wrangler RT/S's have plenty of life left, and he's willing to pay plenty for them, so I'm gonna sell them and get new ones, but I'm also in search of a BB too, so I might as well just get the larger tires now, and then I'll be ok once I get the BB on.

But thanks again!

i measured a 265/75R16 and they were 31's, i leaned it up against my stock hight jeep they look HUGE i think that they would rub real bad even with a BB.

I can do trimming haha. Actually, I can't remember who's it was, but I saw someone had trimmed their fenders, and then used some kind of material to follow the edge and it really cleaned it up and made it look really good and clean, I THINK it was ZJones, but I could be mistaken... BTW, what do most of you guys used to trim your fenders with?

No trimming is required for fitting 31s, even stuffed so they rub on the top of the front spring towers, but you'll have to shim your steering stops a bit.

Stella, that's what I had been previously told, but then other say I will rub so who knows?? I think it will depend on the tread of the tire I choose to go with, but right now I have a deal on a BB and shocks, so they may just happen before the new tires anyways.

The other thing I was thinking about, is I really like a Grand with a wider stance, be it wider tires, better backspacing, or wheel spacers. Now most likely, when I get the 31's, they're going to be on my stock 15" rims until I can pick up some cragars, but how wide are 31x9.50's going to be compared to the stock 245/75/r15? does the 75 mean 7.5" wide, in which case the 31's will be 2" wider on each side? Because if the 31's aren't much wider, I might pick up some spidertrax wheel spacers, because like I said, I think Grands look good with a wide stance. I had a soccer mom in a WJ pass me on the highway yesterday with some really wide tires (like 2" outside the fenders on each side) and it was gorgeous...(so was she!) haha. But anyways, what do you guys think on this idea?

Thanks

I feel like you should just go with the bb first thats what i did and it still looks decent with your street tires lol i bought a bb (spacers only) from terraflex 30bucks shipped it was under there "blem" section i believe there 11 bucks a pop now but then youll have no prob fitting 31s

It depends on the tire tread and the individual Jeep whether you will rub or not. Some people can fit 31's stock, a bunch can't. It depends on the age of the Jeep, what loads its carried, if it has been used for towing and condition of suspension components.

I have 31x10.5 on mine, they fit fine w/ very minimal trimming, but they are an A/T tread.
