Project "Get a ZJ" phase 1 complete

I sold my car saturday to make room for a grand cherokee. I'm fully comitted now. However I've already scoured every lot, browsed every local/regional classified, and surfed through all the online jeep classifieds I can find. Still haven't found one just right. If anybody knows of a 94-96 Grand Cherokee Limited for sale in the northwest, please let me know!

With most vehicles, at 150k miles I start to get a little worried. By the time I drive it for a year or two, I hit 200k and lose all hope of resale value. Where I'm located everything on the market has at LEAST 150k, there's the one odd 100k ZJ but its always $2,000 more than the rest. Should I be concerned getting involved in a ZJ that late in its life? Most automatic transmissions dont like much more than 150k miles, most engines are pretty darn broken in, bearings, joints, bushings, everything is pretty close to the end of its life. Is there any hope of hitting 200k while retaining any kind of value and reliability?

When an engine dies with 200k on it, its a great time to rebuild it with a stoker kit the 4.0L is a wonderful engine but even 200k is pushing it for reliability...

Perhaps you should look online for a ZJ instead of locally...

I've been searching autotrader within a 300mile radius daily. I couldn't afford to ship one in so its gotta be within a 4hr driving distance. With 30 to pick from, they all have ~150k except the reaaally expensive ones. At this point I've got my 'toy' car and the jeep isn't supposed to be it, I was hoping it'd be the vehicle that would keep me getting to work while the other is being a lawn ornament.

150K... A jeep is just getting started. Technically, If you have a 2004 vehicle with 150K, and a 1994 with 150K, the 04 will last another 10 years, and the 94 may last 2-3 years. The reason for this is, wear on a vehicle when it is older is much harder on it, so trying to add more miles to an old high mileage vehicle isn't always ideal. That said. I just bought a 1995 Jeep ZJ with 150K for 1000 on Ebay Motors. This is the place to go when you need a Jeep! Another place you may want to look is . Good luck on finding a Jeep, let us know how it goes.
