problem with starting.

ok so im finally starting to tear into my jeep but my problem is it wont start. its the 95' gc laredo. i think it might be a bad battery because the first time i tried to start it it just made a loud CLICK noise. i hooked battery charger up to it overnight and now it makes several click noises repetively. but thats all i will get. do you think somehow the battery is bad? what would cause this. it has sat for awhile but idk why it would make that noise

Take the battery to the local parts store and have it checked.

Also might be the starter.

Make sure your battery terminals are clean and tight. Load test the battery to see if it is good.

Another way to see if the battery is good is to do the following: with engine off attach a volt meter to the battery and check the voltage. It should read around 12 volts depending on condition. Now have someone try to start the engine. Look at the meter and if the voltage goes down below 9 volts during the start attempt, you battery is bad. The lower the voltage the worse the battery condition.

check the relay if it has one, I don't know if the 95's do or not. Starter relay under the hood, you can swap it with the windshield one.
