Problem with Slow or Lazy Shifting Transmission in 96 5.2 GC

My 1996 GC seams to shift sort of lazy when driving at low rpms. Ive checked the fluid and its fine. The trans does not slip and makes firm shifts when I drive it in the higher RPM range. The truck is a 5.2 V8 with 96k on it and has been well maintained so Im hoping its not in need of a trans. Any ideas what could be causing this?
