Problem with 04 Grand Cherokee Windows, Lock ETC>

I have a problem with my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. None of the windows function, the drivers door lock, or either mirror. The car is behaving as if the door is open when it is shut. The interior lights remain on but the computer does not say the door is open. Is it the whole switch, or a more deep rooted problem? Anyone else have problems like this? Thanks

2004 is pretty new, but this is a common problem with older Jeeps. I had a snapped ground wire in the door boot, spliced it back together with a twisty cap and it fixed everything. Open your door, pull back the rubber grommet and look in there for a broken wire.

way too much to list.
Thought for the day:
If GOD gave HIS only son for us...can't we at least give HIM an hour of our time a day.

I had this same problem with my 04 WJ, and I fixed it last Saturday exactly as plateofshrimp described.

For further info, see my posting in this thread:

Good luck,

Thanks sooo much!! I pulled the boot off and I'll be god dammed, the black wire was snapped. Went to Walmart and bought some black wire and extended it by eight inches spliced them together secured, works good as new. Thanks again!!

Grand Cherokee 2003, interior lights/windows not working

I have exactly the same problem with my 2003 Grand Cherokee, it's driving me nuts. It's like driving a ship at night !

What do you mean by taking the boot and the door off ?? Do you mean the door card ?

Many thanks

Rich

We mean the rubber boot between the door and the main body that has all the wires in it.

Previous Jeeps: 84 CJ7 (A True Jeep), 2000 XJ (163,000 Miles/Totaled (Pictures of wrecked Jeep in gallery)), 2004 WJ (parting out die to major electrical issues)

If you don't have time to do it right the first time, how do you have time to do it over.
