Well lets see.. My mom bought her 4.0 for I think $25,000 or something back in 2000 it had 24,000 miles on it.. The 5.9 we got 2 years and 3 months ago for $5500 with 118k on it.
Im curious to see if ANYONE on this forum has actually owned their ZJ for all its life or if everyone has bought them 1-2-3-4 ect years ago.. lol so far it seems we got everyone beat owning it for 13 years.. Now that i think about it this is Jeep has been extremely reliable... 15 years old, 13 years in the family.. Been driven accros country twice with a big German shepherd, guinee pig, 2 cats, and 2 kids stuffed to the brim... Been through hellish winter and extreme deserts in arizona...... Has pretty much 200k on it now, with the original engine and transmission still running strong... Im quite suprised the tranny has lasted this long and it still runs like day 1 lol.
2013 6.2 V8 Camaro SS 9k miles
1998 5.9 V8 ZJ 180k miles
1998 4.0 I6 Laredo ZJ 227k miles
1998 5.9, paid $4200 in pristine shape just shy of 2 years ago from an old man w/ 184k on it. Its been driven "spirited" almost every day since I've owned it, now has just a touch under 215k yet starts/runs/drives like brand new with the exception of the usual issues; rear end bearing whine, old tired suspension etc. Working on fixing those issues but once I do I bet there's still another 100k+ in her before I have to rebuild the engine
