Go ahead and buy a spare serpentine belt and be sure to take along the correct sized socket to move the belt tensioner in order to install the belt. If you hear a strange thump while you're driving, don't assume you just drove over something that you didn't notice. Check your gauges. Battery will drop to zero immediately.

You may as well spend the money and get a Gator Back belt or something similar. I have a Dayco Poly Cog and it has been great. No signs of age yet after more than 2 years.
