Power WIndow Help

Hey guys, sometimes my power windows just stop working. However, I have noticed that whenever I have the door open, they statr workinga gain. And then when I shut the door again, sometimes they keep on working, other times they just stop working again.
Any simple explanatioans/fixes to this?
Its not all that urgent, but it is still annoying!
Thanks

Check for a shortage at the boot. To do this, open the door and while it is going up or down, put your hand on the boot and move it around. See what that does.

Secound take the door panel off and check the power at the motor and see if its not working while getting power or if its a power loss problem. Check with the door open and closed.

Finding these two things will help a lot. Good be a motor problem but it sounds more like a power loss problem.

Good luck

JJ gave you a great trouble shooting answer. Let us know if that helps or if you need more info.

I bet he is talking about the conduit that goes between the door and the body. It looks like a little rubber acordian. All of the wires for the door go through that conduit.

thanks guys. I think the motor is broken.
Today while I was driving, I had to open the door to get the windows to open
But when I got home, I opened the door and tried opening the window, while moving the boot, and nothing happened.
I couldn't get the windows to start working again. I think it is something wrogn with teh motor.
SO how do I check the motor for power? where is the door panel?
thanks

I'm sure you've fixed this problem, as it's been a few months, but in case people are searching and come across your post.... I had the same problem. Though it was some sort of magical door. As you mentioned, I'd be driving through a toll and I'd have to open the door to roll down the window. I removed the boot and found that one of the wires had tensed up so much between opening and closing the door that it just snapped the connection. Everytime I would open the door the tension would cease and the connection would be made again. A simple solder job cured it for the time being.

Interesting.

My power windows always work from my "master console" at the drivers seat. However, when for instance the passenger goes to use his power window, sometimes it doesn't respond. I'll simply control it for him, but I think something is wrong with my electrical system.

My stock alarm also goes off for no reason when engaged now. And this is a persistent problem. I've been annoyed with this, anyone had similar problems with their security system (stock) and power windows not responding?
