power steering pump blow

did I totally ruin my power steering pump by tightening the belt to tight??? I had power steering fluid blowing out from the shaft into the pulley and then everywhere. or will it be ok by taking the tension off of the belt....and refilling the reservoir.

Doesn't your 4.0 have an automatic belt tensioner? Or is that just on the newer ones?

just the newer ones. i over tightened mine once and learned my lesson real quick, i ate through a pulley, a water pump and a harmonic balancer. now this is how i do it. tighten it to where i think its a tiny bit too loose, then start your engine and if it squeals tighten it a tiny bit more, and continue the procss untill it stops squealing. my belt still squeaks from time time but im fine with that.
