Power Steering Hose on 4.7

2001 GC LTD. Bought hose (HP) 5019708AD from dealer. The bends were way different than original. They said it needed to be forced to fit. The dimensions were off by 2" at motor and had a 45 degree at pump where a 90 degree bend was needed. Any ideas?

not sure what you paid for that hose, but I had one go on my jeep and one on my sons neon. I took them to the farm supply and they braze threaded ends on the pipe and replaced the hose for 40 bucks. If I ever have a problem again I just replace the hose. Not likely to ever happen again now.

When I bought mine from the dealer (and they're only available from the dealer) the parts man asked for the VIN. He said the hoses could be different based on when the engine was manufactured. The hose he sold me was an exact fit. No issues, no bending, no problems. The only tight spot was the fitting to the pump itself. It's a little tight but a little patience and an assortment of wrenches will work. I've heard that cutting a box wrench will assist even more with the installation of that top thread.

Do you have the part number of the one you bought?

As that is the correct part number, stupid question, but are you installing it in the correct direction? If it's the 2 piece assembly it's the correct part. The PS end has the nut attached, but the fan motor assembly is 2 pieces. The sleeve is installed slightly into the fan motor, the the metal "tube" is then inserted, then tighten all down.

Did a Google:

Went back to dealer. Got hose again. It was about 10 minute install. Hardest part was starting thread on pump. It probably took 8 of the ten minutes to hit correct angle for fitting to start. Not a very good redesign.

The redesign sucks. I had to use a dremel and a cutting disk to cut off the chunk of metal in front of the threads to that I could get the threads to reach the pump. Worked great after I did that.
