Power seats...

My 97 ZJ, I have a seat issue.
The motor is working you can feel the seat try to move, but only the left track,
the right one appears stuck.
Anyone actually took it apart and unjammed a track?
Is it common to have a track jam up?
Thanks for any advice you can give.

disconnect the battery ..
remove the floor mats ..
do under the seat .. two bolts in the back and two in the front ..
you may need to be creative to get the bolts out without moving the seat ...
I used an open end wrench and it took forever ...
disconnect the power plug ..
remove seat and flip it upside down ...
you can the grease and clean all the crap the previous owners spilled down the seats ...
I had a lot of stuff in the tracks ...
a little marvel oil and cleaning was what it took w mine ..

installation reverse ......

I cleaned the carpet when I had it out and did the passenger side just for maintenance

I had all kinds of fun getting those bolts out and I had to do it twice.

My driver power seat did not want to recline. So spent time and money getting used manual seats. In the process of removing seat covers I had to diassemble the moving parts.

Sure enough after putting the power seat back together with different covers, it worked.

FML. It was a lot of work.

I do not wantt o change the seat if I can help it.
might pull them out and see if a set of XJ manual tracks will bolt to the seat.

I still have a set of power seats I'm installing one day, and a spare set of tracks to boot. You can never have enough spares with a ZJ, if I had a warehouse to put the stuff I'd make a living pulling parts and selling them. That is until all the zj's were gone and then I would start on wj's

if you've never taken the seat bolts out before be sure to get under the vehicle and hit the bolts with some PB Blaster and wire brush. If the bolts seize in the threads, you're in for some cussing and busted knuckles.

We had normal old power leather seats from the limited but every time I drove it, the little dot on top of the hat would rub the head liner. The seats moved all directions fine but my hat rubbed the top.

I have to have a hat anytime I go outside (skin cancer sucks) and normally take it off while driving but I get in and then take it off so I would get in and hit the top then take the hat off. It got old hitting that dot. I sat the manual seats next the power seats to compare the heights and the power seat tracks are a lot taller then the manual ones.
