Power Locks on a 1993 Grand Cherokee

My Grand Cherokee has power locks & the swtich ONLY unlocks them now. It won't lock them. Any ideas?

Did you try to lock them with the other switches? What about the remote switch? The one switch may need to be replaced........

take the door panel off - take the switch out - then take it apart - there are little "M/W" shaped pieces of steel in there that make the contact. postion them back where they belong - super glue that sucker back together. let it dry and you're good to go.

I don't have the remote for the locks, and I did take apart the door to look during the fall. I read in another old posting that the problem might be where the wires go into the door, where the rubber boot is. A guiy said the wires were often to short & tore. But I will definetly take the door apart to try "re-align" the connectors. As well as check where the wires come into the door. None of the other switches lock either. Only unlock them. Thanks for the input. I always welcome more.

I went through this with my 93 grand laredo a month ago. In the bottom of the glove compartment is a panel held in with one or two screws, under that panel are a variety of relays, 5 or 6 of them. One is the door lock relay and one is the door unlock relay. I dont remember which one they are. Pull them and clean the internal contacts with a points file. Worked like a jet for me.

Ok, I tried the relays, opened the door & looked at the switches, checked for shorts. The relays I swapped around & did not work. The door switch didn't work when I tried to make the contacts myself. I checked continuity from the switch to inside the Jeep by the brake pedal and that was fine. Any other suggestions?
