I think most people just mount them to the plastic bumper and put a flat peice underneath to keep it stable. I used a peice of flat bar and bent it and screwed it to the metal bumper and then cut notches out of the bumper cover for it. Here's a pic of mine without the bumper cover, hope it helps.

Yea, use a peice of metal with a decent thickness and cut it to the curve of the front bumper. Drill the holes in your bumper then trace the holes from the bumper onto the metal and drill the metal. Not hard at all. I mounted 3 Hella 500s like that. Really sturdy.

Same as Bama_WJ here... I actually used two of these hinges below, folded over on itself where it was at a 90 degree angle. One surface of the hinge on the flat piece of the frame of the Jeep and the other as a "table" to attach the lights to. Solid as a rock. DON'T forget go cut out (dremel worked great...) a vertical channel through the black foam under the bumper (maybe 2" x 2" or so) so you can tighten the nut (with a 10" extension) on the lights from under the Jeep with the bumper on. No pics that I know of but been there for over a year without budging.
