Plenum Gasket

Well I replaced the plenum gasket as many of you had suggested. I had previously did a tune up on my ZJ V8 5.2 plugs (gapped 5 thousands over), wire, cap, coil, rotor. While I had the intake off I cleaned it and the fuel injectors also sprayed seafoam on the back side of the valves before reinstalling the intake. But it still sounds like it has a clatter or a ping to it. I have not tried a tank of high octane yet the gas I am running has seafoam in it. I am at a loss besides rebuilding the motor. I am going to change the oil soon and run some engine cleaner through it. Then run a straight weight oil.

I am frustrated with it. Anyone got any more ideas? the link below is to my original post.

Thanks
Tim

sounds about like mine; not sure what the noise is and I did the exact same thing you did w/ no solution. I plan to drive mine until it dies on me.

Sorry, no ideas.

I like your theroy, drive it till it drops. I have been debating on what to do. I was thinking of rebuilding the engine, but I was wondering about building a hopped up I6 or to just rebuild the V8 and maybe add a bigger cam. The only real problem I see in switching to the I6 is the tranny, whether or not it is the same. Just kinda dreamin about what to do. If anyone has an idea! Also I can get a core motor from the junk yard for 300 including the heads and they may through in oil pan too, this way I can rebuild at my lesuire.

Thanks
Tim

I don't know if there is a way to check the PCM to see if it is not giving you the best air to fuel ratio causing the pinging. That could be a place to start....
