PJ's ZJ Build

So I started a thread under the Jeep Build Section. Ill be ordering parts here in the next few days. Pj's ZJ Build Any input before I order parts?

Go with the Clayton kit. Very few people seem to need SYEs on their ZJs.

Clayton is the kit im going with. You dont think I would need an SYE? I thought with that much lift I would

So i got a real good deal on a set of 37 13.50 15R swamper M16's they should be here in the next few days. The rest of the money I need for the lift will be here in another month or so then i can order the lift, rear bracket kit and now a set of 4.88 gears.

Me too...just waiting on the money from my uncle it was suppose to be here at the end of Feb. Then ill order lift kit and ill be rdy to build. Oh for to mention that ill be wrapping those M16 around a set of 15x9 Interco Birddog wheels.

That front 30 is an hp right?

If not, id get one.

Youll have to tell me how those axles hold up to 37's.. Thats a LOT of tire for those axles.

Your axles may have pushed your YJ but that zj is about 5-600 lbs heavier, add all that armor and bull**** those axles get pretty stressed.

You'll burn up ball joint FAST too.

Im not tryin to be a downer man.

I was gonna put 37's on mine but decided on 35's cause it was "safer" -as far as drivetrain components goes.

An 8.8 is a bit stronger than a 44 and I read that 37's would be pushing it.

Just my 2 pennies

I got an XJ HP 30 shell ready for the YJ 30 inners which include 30 spline molly shaft, Eton E locker. Say what you will about the Dana 30 its helded up every well in my YJ. My YJ was 4800lbs running weight with heavy millitary 37's and two peice wheels (150LBS each). Ball joints were never an issue, neither were the wheel/driveline joints. Only thing that I had issues with were hubs wearing out but that only happend when I swapped from my GY 37's on alloys (105lbs) to the GY 37 and HMMWV wheels (150LBS) I still drive it the Rubicon, wheeled it and drive home 1500 miles round trip. Drove to Moab wheeled there for 5 days and drove home round trip 2200 miles. Neither of these two trip was there ever an issue with any part of my jeep. But this is my experiences which may differ from yours its all about how you drive it. This ZJ wont be a heavy rock crawler like the YJ was and it will see alot more pavement then the YJ has. The YJ will be getting one tons and 40+ later on so I can do the heavy rocks again.

Will do..also since i wont have the cad housing for strength i will be doing a full truss...Im looking at the one from IRO or Ballistic
