Agreed! The previous owner really didn't believe in bolting everything together when he was finished working. Missing bolts everywhere..

Does anyone know where I can find the bolts required to get the front driveshaft back in? I need to see if the VC is bad or not.

You don't need to test the VC. In the 1993-1995 ZJs, removal of the front shaft damages the VC very quicky. It's toast.

No point in trying to test it

Well thanks for the input. That's depressing...

I guess I should start looking at my options if I want to get that thing off road ready

replace the VC, or swap in a 242 or 231. VC is around 350 if you do it yourself. i picked up a 242 from the junkyard for 90, had to get the right input for it from a different junkyard (242 was early gear cut, my 249 was late gear cut) and that cost me another 30.

Thanks for the help. I'm going to visit a junkyard this weekend to see if I can find any 231 or 242 transfer cases to potentially use. How do I find the gear cut? Do I have to test it or is it displayed somewhere?

Went to the junkyard on Saturday.. Found some potential candidates for a transfer case. Surprisingly a lot of the ZJs there were 2wd. Didn't know it was that common.

Now I have a new question. There seems to be low oil pressure. Gauge reads right around ~25 and does not fluctuate while driving. I know it works because when it starts the oil pressure comes up from 0. My dads 4.0 TJ always reads at least 40 on the gauge with the 4.0 so that's why I'm concerned. It's a fresh motor and doesn't burn oil so I don't know what would cause low pressure. Any suggestions would be great!!

You're welcome! I have no idea how long it was like that, I was in chipotle for at least 30 minutes!
