What engine?
I had a 4.7L '99 that I put a Flowmaster 70 series (big block/RV, it's the 'quiet' one). I loved the way it sounded... yet it wasn't so loud that you could hear it miles away. And inside it was just mildly louder than stock. You could still talk easily.
Personally I don't know about 6 cyl loud exhausts... I'd keep it quiet I think. V8s should rumble though.
Any muffler shop should be able to get the right Flowmaster.

V8 or 6? I have the Turbo City system on mine (4.0) with a free flow cat from Car-Sound. Turbo City's system comes with a 2.5 inch pipe and Magnaflow muffler. I am really pleased with the sound and the system really woke up my Jeep. You may want to e-mail and ask for his opinions/suggestions. He can also set you up with a system he sells. A lot of people like and run his setup. I believe that it is reasonably priced as well. Regards. Travis

Defintally contact He'll set you up with a system (using flowmaster mufflers) that is specificly designed for your ZJ.
Totally Jeep-less right now...
Looking for a ZJ for the trails!

I have been running the Dynomax cat-back exhaust since February of this year and it sounds pretty good. And with the k&n filter, Bosch wires, and Bosch plugs, it performs a lot better and surprises a lot of the little wannabe rice burners.
'96 ZJ with 4in Tera coils, RE control arms, ARB bumper up front, Black Diamond shocks, 31x10.5 Baja Claw Radials on black wheels, EZ locker in the rear, more lift and rock sliders on order.
