Perform Maintenence Message

Does anyone know how to reset the annoying "perform maintenence" message on the overhead console that also beeps every time I start my 99 Grand Cherokee? It's got 51K miles and I hate to take it to the dealer for this.

the '96 has two buttons on the Message Center.
pressing and holding both for several seconds will reset the flags.
