When I decided to paint my cladding, I had to do allot of searching. And I noticed others asking about it as well. So I figured I'd start a thread about it.
Please post a pic of your ZJ with painted cladding and what you used to paint it (i.e. bedliner, krylon fusion, straight up spray paint, etc.) And any tips to make the process better for those who haven't done it. I'd like to get a bunch of ZJ's in different colors (clean and level) so everyone will get a good idea of what theirs might look like after it's done. Year an model of your Jeep would be helpful too.
Here's my 96' Laredo. It's Dark Rosewood. I used spray on Bedliner from Home Depot. I ruffed up the surface with a fine sanding pad and cleaned it with paint thinner. I used 3 cans of paint. If the cans were smaller it may have taken 4.
that looks real good doing the same thing pending some good weather here....how much that stuff running i was looking at roll on bed liner its kind of expensive. Also how many cans generally will it take might help as well...
I'm asking 'cos I'm planning on painting my bumpers/cladding as well and while cladding wouldn't be so hard to take off (except for rear-wheel-well part where PO used rivets on mine), the bumpers are really PITA to take off. So I guess it's not too hard of a job to protect everything with paper tape and newspapers and spray-paint it while it's on the Jeep.. that's a good news...
