Paint question

So my wipers are flaking paint badly. Gonna take the arms off and give them a repaint to freshen the look with some Rattlecan black.

My question is, can I use the same rattlecan for my roof rack? Or would I be better with a different type of paint to repaint my faded rack?

Thanks guys.

Same thing should work fine for both. It's all in the prep.

Flat, satin or semi-gloss for wiper arms, not gloss.

Also, be sure to mark the location of the wiper arms before you remove them. It is a pain to try and find the correct location afterwords.

Scruff them up good and use an excellent 2k primer.

The FSM shows the arm locations for installation.

There's generally a fair amount of slop in that linkage especially if the Jeep has a few miles on it. The FSM or marking the original locations will get you close but don't be surprised if you have to move it a notch or so one way or another.

Most auto parts places carry trim paint. It's a little closer to OEM trim finish than regular semi-gloss or satin. I've used it before and it works pretty well, good coverage and holds up to environmental exposure.

Much obliged guys. This isn't the first time I've removed my wiper arms before so I know the trickiness of lining it back up.

Yeah BW, any mark you make on the wiper arm base to align with the stud is going to be painted over. Best to lift the wiper arm up, set it down gently, then put a couple pieces of blue painters tape on the windshield close to each side of the rubber wiper tip for aligning it back up when re-installed. Any kind of tape you can see will work.

I've used the below Rust-Oleum pro gloss black successfully on lots of parts on my Jeeps. Don't really get any sun glare off of it and the gloss part isn't real reflective for long. And when raining with the wipers going across the windshield normally sun isn't out when raining. Lol.
