overdrive

hello i am new to site. i have a 98 jeep cherokee laredo 4.0 engine two wheel drive. my problem is it will not shift into overdrive. trans works fine other than that shifts perfect just no od love the site. thanks harv51

should we work under the assumption that you know about the OD button?

take a look at the info below. since the switch is normally open, it appears that you can eliminate the switch pod by disconnecting it.

but if you have meter or test light and can use it, you can check / eliminate the wiring/ switch

Do a search for cascade transmission on YouTube. It's likely that the overdrive piston spring is broken. It's an easy fix for about $20.

All you do is drop the pan and remove a few bolts. They have a video that shows the whole process.
