Operation: Former "Anti Minivan Style ZJ" into Lifted + BFG's

So guys and gals as you know I have been debating on tires and lift combinations for quite some time now. Well I finally locked down and decided on the IRO 3.5" Lift for my ZJ, along with some BFG A/T's. I picked up the BFG's today slightly used, with 5 tires one being new. You can see from the pics how much wear are on them. They are 245/75/R16's so I will use them on my Stock wheels, and maybe get some Spidertrax spacers when money allows. Anyway, it should be said and done by next Sunday Night, my next available night to install. Here are before pics, let me know what ya think! Btw, mud flaps are going I assume. Also a big mile marker being I just reached 150,000 miles, but from what I hear I got another 100,000 miles on this engine to go with no problems.

Before.

Tires:

Penny and Quarter on a used tire:

The 1/5 only new tire, will be my spare. Still has the "Fuzzy things" so I know its new. Notice the tread is about 3 lines before the 1/2 inch mark.

Now, a used tire. A bit more fuzzy, but the line is nearly in the same place.

These came off of a Wrangler that got a bigger lift and 35's so he didnt really run on them at all before changing tires.

Like I said, plan is to lift 3.5" via IRO, and then these tires should add another 2-3 inches I assume.

Let me know what you all think!
-Pat

No Clicky. Did you buy new rear springs? Because with the I6, they won't give you the same about of lift in the rear. And the tires will give you about 1" more lift. You had 29"s or so, going to 31"s, that is a 2" difference. Since that is total diameter, you have to divide in half and you get a 1" lift.

I am getting the IRO kit here: http://www.ironrockoffroad.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=IROR&Product_C ode=IR-Z_3LK&Category_Code=PFZ

Oh yeah, makes sense. So I assume 4.5" lift total? Does swapping the front to rear, and news in the front really lift it that much?

Yes it does, but only if you have the V8. With the I6, its only going to lift it like 3"s or so. I would buy some new front V8 springs, probaly Up-country, or new rear springs.

Disclaimer: If you install the lift and find that there are bad vibes, you may need the transfer case dropped, but it should be the last thing you do. You lose about an inch of clearance or so.

It all depends on your individual setup. Some ZJs handle lifting just fine while others find all sorts of problems.

I guess that could be the case, I assume in your 4.5" you did need a drop?

Even V-8 springs won't guarantee you 3.5" I only got ~3" with mine.

#27. Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever.

I got more like 4.5" in the rear with my V8 UC springs. Worst case scenario you'll have to buy some 3/4" spacers for the rear if it sits too low. Not a big deal...they're only like $10.

not to big on the ZJs but those size tires should fit with out an lift at all... maybe a little trimming required but thats cheaper than an IRO or just get a BB for way cheaper. my

Sorry it took so long to get back. No, even at 4.5" I don't need the drop. It's sitting in my garage back home.
